We were approached by one of our customers to replace a DC hoist motor to a newer model on their rail mounted gantry crane. This was done to increase it’s reliability and lifespan as well as to improve the ride quality of the machine for the operators .
On this job we had to deal with lifting a heavy load into a confined machinery house whilst maintaining our strict safety standards. We completed the job safely and well within our customers time frame.
Changing this hoist motor included:
Removal of old encoder, tachometer and over-speed switch
Removal of old hoist motor and cooling fan
Safely lowering old hardware down to the ground
Safely hoisting new motor and cooling fan set up into machine house
Positioning new motor on bed plate and making any adjustments required
Laser alignment of new motor to ensure correct positioning, eliminating vibration and further prolonging the life of components
Installation of new encoder, tachometer and over-speed switch
Wiring of motor and cooling fan
Drive tuning and alterations tailored to the preference of the on site crane operators
